Palmetto State Armory Dagger Full Size vs. Compact: Why not build both?
Palmetto State Armory Dagger Full Size vs. Compact: A Comprehensive Comparison
When it comes to affordable yet feature-packed handguns, the Palmetto State Armory (PSA) Dagger series stands out. Both the Full Size and Compact models offer great value, but choosing the right one depends on your specific needs and preferences. Let's dive into the key differences and why these pistols might be the best bang for your buck. Right of the bat, I'd like to call out that you're able to swap parts in between the two, making building a customzing a breeze. You can also utilize pretty much anything Gen3 Glock 19 compatible.

Size and Compatibility
The primary distinction between the Full Size and Compact models is their size. The Full Size Dagger features a longer grip, making it suitable for those who prioritize a full grip and maximum magazine capacity. The Compact Dagger, on the other hand, is designed for easier concealment, with a shorter grip. If you're looking for a flush fit magazine, pick up a 15 round mag. THe 17 round magazine will stick out about an inch.
Interchangeable Parts
One of the standout features of the PSA Dagger series is the interchangeability of parts. Except for the magazines, all parts between the Full Size and Compact models are interchangeable. This means you can customize and upgrade your pistol without worrying about compatibility issues.
Magazine Compatibility
The Full Size Dagger comes standard with a 17-round magazine, while the Compact model uses a 15-round magazine. However, you can use the Full Size's 17-round magazine in the Compact model—it will just stick out slightly. This flexibility allows you to choose the magazine that best suits your needs without being restricted by the pistol's size.
Feature-Packed Design
Both the Full Size and Compact Dagger models come packed with features that are usually found on more expensive handguns. These include:
- Suppressor Height Sights: Metal sights that are ideal for use with suppressors.
- Threaded Barrel: Allows for easy attachment of suppressors or other muzzle devices.
- Optics Cut: Ready for mounting your preferred red dot sight for enhanced accuracy.
Lifetime Warranty
One of the most compelling reasons to consider the PSA Dagger series is the lifetime warranty that comes with each pistol. This warranty ensures that your investment is protected and provides peace of mind knowing that PSA stands behind their products.
Best Bang for Your Buck
I firmly believe that the PSA Dagger Full Size and Compact pistols offer the best value on the market. Their combination of features, reliability, and affordability makes them an excellent choice for both novice and experienced shooters. Whether you opt for the Full Size or Compact model, you can be confident that you are getting a high-quality firearm that won't break the bank.
The PSA Dagger Full Size Build
Keeping an eye on the Palmetto State Armory website and Pew Deals (shameless plug) is a great way to build a Dagger on the cheap. I picked up two frames for $99 and slides for $179.99 each which are doctor cut (more on that later). That's it. You're up and ready to rock. At the moment they package deal on slides is sold out. I've linked below the single full size FDE slide.
- Frame: PSA Dagger FDE Full Size S Frame
- Slide: PSA Dagger Complete Doctor Cut Slide Assembly with Threaded Barrel, Extreme Carry Cut, FDE
- Optic: Vortex Venom 3MOA Red Dot Sight

The PSA Dagger Compact Build
I decided to utilize one of the Crimson Trace CMR-207FDE (linked product below is black. It's available also in a green laser if you prefer) Light Laser combos on my PSA Dagger Compact build. I'm also a big fan of this light and have mulitple of them. Other than that, the formula stays the same. Threaded barrel, suppressor height sights, stock internals, Vortex Venom 3MOA red dot sight up top. Please note that the link to the frame in this post is Sniper Green color. FDE is currently sold out. By the time you read this though, it'll likely be back in stock.

Conclusion
Choosing between the PSA Dagger Full Size and Compact ultimately comes down to your specific needs. If you prefer a larger grip and higher magazine capacity, the Full Size is the way to go. For those who prioritize concealability and a more compact design, the Compact model is an excellent choice.
Whichever model you choose, you'll be getting a pistol that offers outstanding value, impressive features, and the backing of a lifetime warranty. The PSA Dagger series truly delivers on the promise of quality and affordability, making it a top contender in the market.

Making the Decision
When deciding between the Full Size and Compact models, consider the following:
